Things to Do

Looking for ways to enhance your weekend? Check out our list of recommendations below.

Olana State Historic Site

An art historical gem of the Hudson Valley, Olana State Historic Site is the family home and studio of Hudson River School painter Frederic E. Church. The stunning property offers unparalleled vistas and a glimpse into the life of one the great American artists of the 19th century.

Grounds are free and open daily from 8am - sunset. Guided tours of the house are available Friday through Sunday, 11am - 3pm. Check the website for details, as hours may change.

Thomas Cole National Historic Site

Located just across the river in Catskill, the Thomas Cole National Historic Site is another jewel of the region. This house museum was home of Thomas Cole, the founder of the Hudson River School, and is considered the birthplace of the movement. The museum offers mountain views and many of Cole’s iconic landscape paintings.

Grounds are free and open daily. Private tours are available by appointment. General admission will resume Spring 2022. Check the website for details.

WYLDE Hudson

WYLDE is a woman-owned, LGBTQ-friendly boutique and purveyor of must-have Upstate goods, including The Village Uncommon candles (don’t take our word for it, ask Oprah). They recently expanded next door with a coffee shop and community space, perfect for an early afternoon latte before the main event.

Cafe hours: Friday - Sunday, 8am - 5pm
Shop hours: Friday - Sunday, 11am - 5pm

La Perche

La Perche has been our go-to brunch spot for years. This French bakery & bistro has the best bread and pastries around. La Perche is an excellent choice for Saturday morning breakfast before you get ready for the day.

Hours: Saturday & Sunday, 9am - 4pm

Culture Cream

A newer addition to the Hudson food scene, Culture Cream is a retro, Cali-inspired ice creamery whipping up unique flavor combos. We recommend trying the Sage Honey Kefir and Coffee Kombucha, but really you can’t go wrong with anything here. Plus, the music is always on point.

Hours: Friday, 10am - 9pm; Saturday, 11am - 9pm, Sunday, 11am - 7pm

Hudson Brewing Co.

A short walk from The Wick and on the same grounds as the famed Hudson Basilica, Hudson Brewing Co. is the city’s first post-Prohibition brewery. Boasting 12 taps on rotation, along with a selection of craft cocktails and NYS wines, HBC is where you can experience Upstate adult beverages at their finest.

Hours: Friday - Sunday, 12 - 10pm
